As Department Head, I provide leadership for 40 faculty and extension professionals and 1000 students in Animal Science at NC State. In addition, I serve as Director of the Animal and Poultry Waste Management Center leading efforts to reduce nutrient output and emissions from food-producing animals. I conduct research and outreach programs focused on the evaluation of genetics in a systems context to enhance sustainability of pork and teach "Science, Policy and Public Perception in Animal Agriculture.''
